Clayton County Past Foreclosures
Clayton County holds its foreclosure auction on the steps of the Harold R. Banke Justice Center at 9151 Tara Boulevard in Jonesboro, on the first Tuesday of every month. Worth getting right before you go: the sale is at the Justice Center on Tara Boulevard, not at the county's older buildings on McDonough Street in downtown Jonesboro. Clayton is the lowest entry point of the core metro counties, which makes it more competitive than the price tags suggest. If Clayton would be your first Georgia auction, read how the process works first.

Foreclosure Investing in Clayton County
Clayton is the most affordable of the core metro counties, and that is exactly why it is not easy.
Where Clayton foreclosures concentrate
The inventory concentrates in Jonesboro, Riverdale, Forest Park, Morrow, and Lake City: single-family homes built from the 1960s through the 1990s, modest square footage, priced well under the metro median. Entry costs are low enough that the buyer pool runs deep, and it includes both first-time investors and operators buying at volume.
Lovejoy, Rex, and the southern end of the county bring some newer subdivision product built in the 2000s. Larger homes, higher opening bids, and a different buyer than the older in-county inventory.
Why Clayton underwrites as rental
Rental demand is the engine in Clayton County. Hartsfield-Jackson and the logistics corridor along I-75 and I-285 anchor a large workforce that rents, and that supports buy-and-hold math better than the sale prices alone would suggest. Flip exits are tighter than in the northern counties, so a good share of Clayton deal flow gets underwritten as rental from the start.
That changes what you are solving for before you bid. Rent comps and vacancy matter more here than resale comps, and a property that looks thin on a flip spread can still clear as a hold.
One practical note for the morning itself: the Justice Center is a modern complex set back from Tara Boulevard rather than a courthouse on a downtown square, so budget a few extra minutes to find the right steps. Check the auction day checklist before you go.
